3-D Views of Spartan Stadium Now Available on www.sjsuspartans.com

San Jose, Calif.
- Providing greater service to its ticket buyers, the San Jose State University Division of Intercollegiate Athletics has teamed with Ballena Technologies and unveiled a computerized generated 3-D image of Spartan Stadium on the website, www.sjsuspartans.com.

The interactive technology allows fans to look at different seating options anywhere in the 30,456-seat Spartan Stadium before purchasing tickets either on line at www.ticketmaster.com, in person or by telephone at (408) 924-SJTX.

Ballena Technologies, based in Alameda, Calif., uses computer-generated 3-D imagery technology created solely from blueprints and architectural renderings. Instead of downloading a static small picture facing the court or field, the viewers receive a 3-D interactive model complete with panoramic views as if they were sitting in those seats. The user can spin the stadium around, as well as look at and control the associated panoramic and roof-off views. The user also can email the "view from a seat" to others simply by pressing a button. Ballena’s unique application loads very quickly and doesn’t require the downloading of time-consuming plug-in software.

In addition to creating models in recent months for San Jose State University, Ballena’s clients include the New England Patriots, Memphis Grizzlies, University of Washington, University of California, Daytona International Speedway, California Speedway and the expansion Houston Texans of the NFL. By the start of the college basketball season, Ballena will have 3-D images of The Event Center, home of the San Jose State University basketball teams.

The technology, which is compatible with all online ticketing applications, also can be used to sell luxury suites. The 3-D models show a cross-section of the suite, complete with multiple panoramic views from different standpoints inside and outside the suite. In addition, potential sponsors can be shown how signs might look from sections throughout the stadium and which angles would be most likely to appear on television.

"By enabling potential sponsors and buyers to see exactly what they will be getting, Ballena’s technology will set us apart from other sports properties," said Josh Francois, Director of Marketing for SJSU."

"Teams looking into this should understand from the start that it takes only a few hundred additional tickets sold to pay for this technology that they will have for years to come. It is a great return on investment in a very short period of time," said Greg Cumiskey, Ballena’s Executive Vice President."

"The computer models can be altered if a sports facility is used for a concert or other event. The technology offers opportunities well beyond just ticket sales or interactive television applications."
